Whole Beef
Fill your freezer with the ultimate variety of locally raised beef. When you purchase a Whole Beef from Homestead Natural Meats, you’re getting every cut—from premium steaks to hearty roasts, flavorful ground beef, and specialty items—all from cattle born and raised right here in Delta County, Colorado. Our cattle graze on the abundant grasses of the North Fork Valley and are finished on locally raised grains, making this a true “pasture-to-plate” product that never leaves the county.
What You’ll Receive
A whole beef (live weight ~1,200 lbs) yields an average 750 lb hanging weight, with a take-home amount of about 450–500 lbs of beef. That translates into a diverse mix of cuts:
-
Steaks (20–25%) – Ribeye, T-Bone/Porterhouse, New York Strip, Tenderloin/Filet, Sirloin, and Round Steaks. (~90–110 lbs total)
-
Roasts (20–25%) – Chuck, Arm, Rump, and Brisket. (~90–110 lbs total)
-
Ground Beef (35–45%) – The largest portion, perfect for everyday meals. (~160–200 lbs total)
-
Other Cuts & Specialty Items (10–15%) – Short Ribs, Stew Meat, Soup Bones, Shanks, Flank, Skirt, plus organ meats if you choose to keep them. (~45–70 lbs total)
Because every family eats differently, your order is fully customizable. If you’d prefer fewer roasts, for example, that meat can be ground into more burger. We’ll have you fill out the cutting instructions, so your beef is cut and packaged exactly the way you want it. For more info and cut sheets click here.
What to Expect
-
Take-home weight is typically 60–65% of the hanging weight due to trimming of bone, fat, and moisture loss during hanging.

-
A whole beef fills approximately 16–18 cubic feet of freezer space.
Buying beef this way means your family has access to every cut, raised with care and integrity from local ranchers. It’s a practical, cost-effective way to keep a steady supply of wholesome, flavorful beef on hand, while also supporting sustainable ranching right here in the North Fork Valley.
With Homestead Natural Meats, you’re not just stocking your freezer—you’re bringing home a true taste of Western Colorado and supporting a tradition of quality trusted for over 20 years.
