Field Care Tips for a Better Harvest

The quality of your wild game starts the moment you tag your animal. Proper field care is the single most important factor in ensuring your meat tastes great and stores well. Here’s what to do before bringing it to us for wild game processing:

  1. Cool It Quickly – Heat is your biggest enemy. Field dress your game immediately to remove internal organs and allow heat to escape. Avoid puncturing the stomach or intestines.
  2. Keep It Clean – Use clean knives and surfaces to avoid contamination. Keep dirt, hair, and debris off the meat, and trim away any gunshot areas.
  3. Skin When Possible – If conditions allow, skin the animal promptly by making cuts at the legs, brisket, and neck, then peeling the hide away from the meat.
  4. Dry & Protect – Wipe down the carcass with a clean cloth, removing any moisture. Double-bag loose trim for long hauls or freezer storage before drop-off.
  5. Label Clearly – Mark each bag with your name and harvest date so we can keep your order organized from start to finish.

Do these steps in the field, and we’ll take it from there — ensuring every cut, sausage, and steak is expertly prepared to your exact specifications.
